Hundreds of miles from the ocean, the iconic Cedar City Lighthouse, UT, set for demolition
A lighthouse that has become an iconic landmark in Cedar City is facing demolition s the Utah Department of Transportation moves forward with plans to expand a major interstate exchange.
Standing 88-feet-tall, the Cedar City Lighthouse is located 350 miles from the nearest ocean, but sits directly in the path of UDOT's planned expansion of the Exit 57 interchange on I15.

Lighthouse tourism worth €33M annually new report states
Visitors to Irish lighthouses have ore than doubled since 2018 - attracting 350,000 visitors annually and lighthouse tourism is generating ore than €33million per year.
A report by KHSK n the socio-economic impact f the Great Lighthouses of Ireland (GLI) initiative, now in its 10th year, found it is supporting 696 jobs across coastal communities.

US government shutdown closes NAS Pensacola, FL, to the public, including lighthouse
Following the US Government shutdown earlier this morning, Naval Air Station Pensacola has been closed or public visitation.
NAS Pensacola released a statement informing the public that public attractions such as the National Naval Aviation Museum, Pensacola Lighthouse and Fort Barrancas will be closed till further notice.

The clifftop house is located just meters way from the famous Split Point lighthouse that appears on the iconic series.

The man behind the restoration of the Cape Hatteras, NC, Lighthouse Fresnel lens
It stands just under 10 feet and weighs 5,050 pounds and is the future crown jewel of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.
The reproduction of the original 1853 Fresnel lens and pedestal, crafted by engineer Dan Spinella of Winter Garden Florida, is almost complete.It will eventually find its home in the newly renovated Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.

Cape Lookout, NC, tourism generated $32million in economic benefits in 2024
A new National Park Service report shows that 552,786 visitors to Cape Lookout National Seashore 2024 spent $28, 925,000 in communities and national parks.
A cumulative benefit of $32,033,000 was added to the local economy.

Exploring Punta Gorda: Final chapter in humboldt, CA, lighthouse series highlights lost coast history
The fifth and final installment of Humboldt's Historic Lighthouses web series takes viewers deep into Petrolia's rugged lost coast, where the Punta Gorda Lighthouse-nicknamed the "Alcatraz of Lighthouses"- still stands against the elements more than a century after it was built.
Created by local video producer Dock, the series is the result of a year-long project to document all five of Humboldt County's historic lighthouses.
