Each issue is historical in nature, usually featuring a famous American lighthouse as the cover story, followed by a human-interest article and, often, a foreign lighthouse story.

The Lighthouse Passport Program provides enthusiasts the opportunity to help preserve lighthouses as well as a wonderful way to keep a pictorial history of their lighthouse adventures. The northern part of Maine - known as "way down east" -  has some spectacular lighthouses along its rocky coast, and on this tour you will see 25 of them. You will also visit Acadia National Park and Roosevelt Campobello International Park. We'll start in Bangor, Maine, and travel all the way to West Quoddy Head at the easternmost point in the U.S., and over to Head Harbor Lighthouse in Canada.  There's likely to be wildlife along the way, including puffins, eagles, and seals.

The Upper Michigan peninsula - also known colloquially as the U.P. or Yoop - is the northern and more elevated of the two major landmasses that make up the U.S. state of Michigan; it is separated from the Lower Peninsulas by the Straits of Mackinac. While there you may be called a "Fudgey" - what the locals call tourists, originated from the regions famous fudge shops there. Accommodations

You can spend the night at a number of lighthouses in the United States. Some lighthouses are now operated as a bed & breakfast, while others are run as a hostel or as a vacation rental. You can even serve as a keeper at some lighthouses, where you perform duties such as guiding tours and light maintenance during your stay.
