2026 Downeast Maine
The northern part of Maine - known as "way down east" - has some spectacular lighthouses along its rocky coast, and on this tour you will see 25 of them. You will also visit Acadia National Park and Roosevelt Campobello International Park. We'll start in Bangor, Maine, and travel all the way to West Quoddy Head at the easternmost point in the U.S., and over to Head Harbor Lighthouse in Canada. There may be surprises along the way, such as whales or seals.

Itinerary
Day 1 - June 6, 2026, Saturday
We will arrive at Bangor Airport and have our Welcome Dinner at a hotel in Bangor.
Day 2 - June 7, 2026, Sunday
Today we will travel to Bar Harbor and board a boat to see lighthouses: Egg Rock, Bear Island, Bass Harbor Head, Blue Hill Bay, Isle au Haut, Heron Neck, Saddleback, Burnt Coat Harbor, Great Duck Island, Baker Island, and Winter Harbor. Lunch will be on board. In the afternoon, we will visit scenic Bass Harbor Head Light. This will be the first of two nights at a hotel in Bar Harbor.
Day 3 - June 8, 2026, Monday
We will take a short boat ride to Baker Island, where we will get a special private tour of the island and lighthouse. The afternoon and evening will be free time in Bar Harbor, with dinner on your own. Back to the hotel in Bar Harbor for the night.
Day 4 - June 9, 2026, Tuesday
Another Boat cruise out of Bar Harbor to see more lighthouses: Egg Rock, Prospect Harbor, Petit Manan, Narraguagus, Nash Island, Moose Peak, and Libby Island, with lunch on board. In the afternoon, we'll have a guided tour of Acadia National Park, a crown jewel of the Northeast. We'll then head up to the quaint town of Lubec for the first of two nights, with dinner on the way.
Day 5 - June 10, 2026, Wednesday
We'll go to the scenic fishing village of Cutler for a short boat ride to Little River Light. After lunch, we'll head to iconic red-and-white striped West Quoddy Head Light at the easternmost point in the U.S. Nearby, we'll get a view of Lubec Channel Light. Dinner will be in the area and then a second night in Lubec.
Day 6 - June 11, 2026, Thursday
We cross the border today into Canada as we visit Campobello Island, New Brunswick. We'll make a stop at the Roosevelt Campobello International Park, a memorial to FDR and a symbol of cooperation between the U.S. and Canada. We'll visit Mullholland Light as well as the spectacular Head Harbour (East Quoddy) Light. Access to that one requires a difficult walk that includes multiple sets of steep ladders. We'll head to Calais and visit Whitlocks Mill Light, then head to our hotel in Bangor for the first of two nights.
Day 7 - June 12, 2026, Friday
We'll head south to the historic town of Castine, where we will visit Dice Head Light. We will visit the spectacular Penobscot Narrows Bridge Observatory for a fantastic view, with a visit to nearby Fort Knox. Then we'll head over to Stockton Springs and Fort Point Light. Back to our hotel in Bangor for the Farewell Dinner.
