Elusive shipwreck found in Lake Michigan over 100 years after sinking

A "ghost ship" that sank in Lake Michigan nearly 140 years ago and eluded several search efforts over the past five decades has been found, according to researchers with the Wisconsin Underwater Archeology Association.

The wooden schooner got caught in a storm in the dead of night and went down in September 1886. In the weeks after, a lighthouse keeper reported the ship's masts breaking the lake surface.

First lit in 1901, the red-roofed, south light house in the Duluth Canal has actually stood longer than the lift bridge itself.

Swimmers compete in annual 8-mile open water challenge 'Swim for Alligator Lighthouse' in Islamorada, FL

Hundreds of swimmers took a plunger the annual Swim for Alligator Lighthouse in the Florida Keys.

Reconstruction on Muskegon Lighthouse, MI, begins; aims to restore structure to avoid removal

Phase one of a reconstruction project began Tuesday, aiming to restore the Muskegon South Breakwater Lighthouse.

Oak Orchard Lighthouse Museum, NY, celebrates new mosaic compass at Point Breeze

The Oak Orchard Lighthouse Museum this evening celebrated a new addition to the group at Point Breeze by the Oak Orchard Harbor: a mosaic compass.
