2026 Yucatan and Campeche Northwest Mexico
It's time to think about getting away to somewhere warm this winter and the Yucatan peninsula can offer that. This lighthouse tour starts in Merida and then goes to the Gulf Coast south and west. In Campeche there will be a tour to experience the flamingo flocks in that area. There will be a stay in Uxmal Mayan Ruins lodge to get the full experience of this culture. Itinerary
Day 1 - Saturday November 7, 2026 D
When you arrive at the Merida International airport, you will be welcomed and greeted by the tour guide and board the bus that will take you to your hotel. The hotel is located right by one of the city's most iconic areas and close to anything you may need.
7 PM - Welcome Dinner at the hotel
Day 2 - Sunday November 8, 2026 B/L/D
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we will depart to visit Dzilam De Bravo Lighthouse on the coastline of the Gulf. There are 2 range light at this location as well. Next there will be a drive to Telchac Lighthouse to visit this charming coastal city. On to the town of Progreso where we will see Progreso Lighthouse and have lunch. After a full day of lighthouses we will return to Merida for a local Mexican dinner and views of the city.
Day 3 - Monday November 9, 2026 B/L/D
Another great breakfast and then put our bags on the bus to depart to Sisal to see the Sisal Lighthouse and enjoy the scenery in this city. Then on to the quaint town of Celestun. Here we will see 2 lighthouses, Celestun Old and Celestun New. We will have lunch and then board smaller transports to go to the tallest lighthouse in Mexico, El Palmar. In the afternoon we will board a boat for the Flamingo Tour. What an experience to be surrounded by these colorful birds. We will stay in Celestun for the night and have dinner.
Day 4 - Tuesday November 10, 2026 B/L/D
Bags on the bus after breakfast and then a scenic drive to Faro Isla Arena that has 2 lighthouses in the town. We will stop to have lunch at a local restaurant and then head to Campeche to view the Fuerte de San Miguel, Campeche Lighthouse. Back on the road to Cerro de San Bartolo Lighthouse. One minute away is the Lerma Sector Ex-Range Light where we will stop to take photos. Back on the road to go to Campeche for the hotel and dinner.
Day 5 - Wednesday November 11, 2026 B/L/D
This day is full of lighthouse visits as we make our way to Champoton. The first is Punta Morro Lighthouse and then Champoton Lighthouse which is part of a cathedral. Our next stop is for 2 lighthouses and a museum; Isla Aguada Lighthouse and Musuem and Faro del Tigre. We have lunch and then we head to Ciudad del Carmen for an overnight stay.
Day 6 - Thursday November 12, 2026 B/L/D
This morning we depart to see Punta Atalaya Del Carmen Lighthouse. A little further south and we will get a view of Xibalango Front and Rear Range Lights. These lights are on Mexican Navy property so we will be get special permission to view these lights. We will return to Campeche for one more night in this delightful town.
Day 7 - Friday November 13, 2026 B
After a relaxing morning, we arrive at Uxmal Ruins in time to have lunch and then tour the ruins. We will stay at the Uxmal Lodge and have our Farewell dinner there.
Day 8 - Saturday November 14, 2026
Our last breakfast in Mexico. Pack your bags and a bus will take us to the Merida International Airport for our transportation home.
